HOKUTO MFG's In-line Heater utilizes direct water-steam mixing for instant, stable, and energy-efficient fluid heating, perfect for demanding industrial processes.

What Is the HOKUTO MFG In-line Heater?

The In-line Heater is a direct steam-mixing fluid heater that injects steam straight into the process liquid flowing through the pipe. Its unique internal structure ensures immediate mixing between water and steam, enabling stable, efficient, and continuous heating without the need for external tanks or large equipment.

Key Capabilities

  • Direct mixing of water and steam to instantly generate hot water

  • Usable with fluids other than water

  • No electricity required—hot water production relies solely on water and steam supply

Core Advantages of the HOKUTO MFG In-line Heater

1. Energy Saving – 100% Heat Exchange Efficiency

By directly mixing liquid and steam, the In-line Heater utilizes the full heat content of steam, reducing wasted energy and maximizing efficiency.

2. Accurate Temperature Control

Instant and stable temperature management is achieved through direct mixing.✔ Supports fluctuations in water or steam pressure✔ Prevents overheating and temperature-related problems common in tank heating

3. Space Saving & Lower Equipment Costs

The compact design eliminates the need for:

  • Large heating tanks

  • Condensers

  • Broad heat-transfer surfaces

  • Complicated drain piping from conventional heat exchangers

4. Faster Start-Up & Higher Productivity

Hot water can be immediately supplied downstream, shortening warm-up time and improving operational efficiency.

5. Reduced Hammering, Vibration & Noise

The uniquely engineered nozzle disperses steam uniformly, significantly reducing:

  • Condensation shock vibration

  • Water hammering

  • Mechanical noise

6. Long Service Life & Minimal Maintenance

With no moving parts, the heater provides continuous, long-term reliability.(Regular cleaning is recommended for contaminated fluids.)

Applications Across Multiple Industries

The In-line Heater is suitable for any industry requiring hot-water generation or fluid heating, including:

  • Power plants

  • Chemical processing

  • Stone & quarry operations

  • Food & beverage

  • Fiber & textile

  • Pulp & paper

  • Medical and pharmaceutical

Typical Operating Modes

  • One-Pass Heating: Heats the fluid instantly as it passes

  • Recycle Heating: Circulates liquid to maintain temperature setpoints

  • Heating & Hot-Water Supply: Keeps supply temperature constant during continuous operation

Construction Overview

The heater consists of three main components:Body, Nozzle, and Element.

As liquid passes through the center of the nozzle, steam is injected into the fluid and dispersed using specialized internal elements. This design ensures uniform mixing, eliminates water hammering, and enables precise heating control.

Material Options

Standard materials include:

  • FC200, SUS304, SUS316, STPG370

  • Corrosion-resistant metals such as Carpenter alloys, Hastelloy, nickel alloys, titanium

  • Synthetic resin linings (PFA, PTFE)
