Hirata Valve Gate Valve Replacement: Technical Information Required for Quotation

Nichiboku's industrial Insights

Introduction

When an installed Hirata Valve Industry gate valve requires replacement, the complete original configuration must be identified before quotation.

Nominal size, pressure class or external appearance alone cannot establish interchangeability. Hirata Valve Industry manufactures valves according to customer specifications; therefore, dimensions, materials, operating conditions and construction details may vary between individual orders. Confirmed Manufacturer Scope: Hirata Valve gate valve replacement

The following information is confirmed at the Hirata gate-valve product-family level. It does not define the specification of a particular installed valve.

Parameter

Confirmed Manufacturer Information

Manufacturer

Hirata Valve Industry Co., Ltd.

Product Category

Gate valve

Function

Full-open or full-closed flow isolation

Throttling Service

Not intended for intermediate-opening flow regulation

Nominal Pressure Range

150LB to 2500LB; 10K to 63K

Manufactured according to customer specifications

Available size depends on pressure rating and the required valve configuration. The official production range should therefore not be interpreted as confirmation that every pressure, size, material and connection combination is available.

Why Exact Replacement Identification Matters

A gate valve is used to permit flow in the fully open position or isolate the line in the fully closed position. It should not be selected as a throttling valve unless the manufacturer has specifically approved the application.

For replacement engineering, the following characteristics can affect installation and performance:

  • Pressure and temperature rating

  • Applicable design and connection standards

  • Face-to-face dimensions

  • End-connection dimensions

  • Body, bonnet, stem, gate, seat and trim materials

  • Bore and flow direction

  • Packing and gasket construction

  • Manual or actuated operation

  • Installation orientation

  • Fluid characteristics and corrosion conditions

A similar-looking valve with the same nominal size and pressure class should not be considered interchangeable without dimensional and technical verification.

Service Life and Replacement Assessment

The official Hirata gate-valve information does not state a fixed service-life value for every configuration.

Actual service life depends on the original design, fluid, pressure, temperature, operating cycles, corrosion, erosion, valve operation and maintenance history. For an installed valve, provide:

  • Installation or manufacturing year

  • Approximate operating period

  • Opening and closing frequency

  • Maintenance and repair history

  • Current leakage or operating problem

  • Reason for replacement

This information helps distinguish between normal end-of-service-life replacement, process-condition damage and a requirement caused by changes in plant operation.

Manufacturer Verification and Japan Sourcing

Once sufficient technical information is available, Nichiboku can coordinate Japan-side identification and current supply-feasibility review.

Manufacturer verification may be required to determine whether the original configuration remains available, requires updated documentation or must be evaluated as a new made-to-order requirement. Submission of an RFQ does not by itself confirm interchangeability or availability.
