Introduction

For many Japanese industrial manufacturers, quotation preparation may require approximately one to two weeks after sufficient technical information has been received. When a tender or quotation deadline falls materially inside this evaluation window, the opportunity may not be commercially feasible within the required timeframe (Japanese Industrial Procurement).

A complete RFQ allows the technical and commercial viability of the requirement to be assessed before manufacturer coordination advances.

Two Timelines, One Procurement Decision

These two timelines address different questions:

Can a technically valid quotation be prepared within the required deadline?

For tender participation, this distinction is particularly important. Where the quotation window is insufficient, the possibility of a deadline extension should be evaluated with the end user before proceeding.

Procurement Alignment

A practical sourcing sequence can be expressed simply:

Complete RFQ → Technical Review → Quotation → Purchase Order → Production

The objective is not to accelerate each stage independently, but to determine whether the technical requirement, quotation deadline, procurement conditions, and manufacturing schedule are compatible from the outset.

Early alignment provides a stronger basis for an inquiry to progress from RFQ to an executable industrial order.
