Meiyo Electric SMP-MB Pressure Transmitter for Industrial Process Monitoring

Nichiboku's industrial Insights

Introduction

Accurate pressure signals are essential for monitoring fluid systems, supporting process control and identifying abnormal operating conditions.

The Meiyo Electric SMP-MB Pressure Transmitter converts pressure variations into a standardized 4–20 mA DC electrical signal for integration with control panels, monitoring systems and industrial instrumentation.

Compact Wall-Mounted Pressure Measurement

The SMP-MB uses a stainless-steel diaphragm with a thin-film strain gauge. This construction supports a compact transmitter design while converting mechanical pressure changes into a proportional electrical output.

Its wall-mounted enclosure facilitates installation, inspection and maintenance in industrial environments. An intrinsically safe version is also available for applications requiring installation in hazardous locations, subject to confirmation of the exact model and certification.

Industrial Applications: Meiyo Electric SMP-MB Pressure Transmitter

The SMP-MB pressure transmitter may be evaluated for pressure monitoring in:

  • Marine machinery and auxiliary systems

  • Power-generation equipment

  • Oil and gas installations

  • Petrochemical and process plants

  • Pumps and fluid-handling systems

  • Industrial automation and control systems

  • Hydraulic and lubrication equipment

Suitability depends on the process fluid, pressure range, temperature, vibration, installation environment and required electrical or hazardous-area classification.

Information Required for Technical Selection

A defined SMP-MB requirement should include:

  • Complete existing model code

  • Required pressure-measuring range

  • Normal and maximum process pressure

  • Process fluid

  • Operating temperature

  • Process connection and thread specification

  • Electrical supply and 4–20 mA input requirements

  • Required measurement performance

  • Installation and mounting arrangement

  • Hazardous-area requirements, when applicable

  • Existing nameplate, drawing or equipment photographs

  • Required quantity

For replacement applications, the original model code and nameplate information should be verified before requesting an equivalent unit.
