Okazaki Explosion/Flame Proof Nipple Type Temperature Sensors
Updated: Sep 15
Nichiboku's industrial Insights
Introduction
Okazaki Explosion/Flame Proof Nipple Type Temperature Sensors are designed for industrial temperature measurement assemblies that require an appropriate hazardous-area configuration.
The product family includes sheathed thermocouples and sheathed resistance thermometer sensors with nipple, union, support-pipe and spring-type constructions. Selection requires the complete model code, sensing-element specification, dimensions, connection and applicable approval requirements.

These values represent available manufacturer options. They do not describe one universal sensor configuration.
Whole length, insertion length, sheath diameter, nipple length, thread, element class and certification suffix must be selected or confirmed for each requirement.
Explosion/Flame Proof Configuration Boundary
Hazardous-area suitability cannot be determined only from the T39, T49, R39 or R49 basic type.
The complete assembly must be reviewed together with the temperature transmitter or terminal box. Okazaki specifies that the certification authority applicable to the sensor must correspond with that of the combined transmitter or terminal box.
The connection thread of the combined equipment must also be specified. Regional restrictions can apply to particular thread and approval combinations.
The manufacturer additionally notes that the configurations described on the reviewed page cannot be used in hazardous locations requiring Japanese explosion-proof certification. Suitability for a specific country, hazardous area and installation standard requires current manufacturer confirmation.
Model Code Identification and Virtual Catalogues
Nichiboku’s technical application provides structured access to the official Okazaki catalogues:
Book 01: Thermocouples
Book 02: RTD Sensors
Book 03: Heaters
Book 04: Compensating Cables
Book 05: Thermowells
For the sensors covered in this insight, use Book 01 for thermocouples or Book 02 for resistance thermometer sensors.
The application supports model-code identification and RFQ preparation. Generated results are indicative and require final technical confirmation before ordering.
