Introduction

Industrial hydraulic and lubrication systems require controlled oil temperature to maintain viscosity, protect components, and support stable machinery operation.

The Taisei Kogyo FCD/FCDB Oil Cooler is a Japanese water-cooled shell-and-tube heat exchanger designed for compact industrial and marine cooling systems.

  • FCD Series: Freshwater cooling for general industrial machinery

  • FCDB Series: Seawater cooling for marine machinery and equipment

Compact and Maintainable Oil Cooling

The FCD/FCDB Series uses Taisei Kogyo’s proprietary φ9 low-fin cooling tube, providing high heat-transfer performance in a compact body. According to the manufacturer, this design enables approximately 20% size reduction compared with conventional φ12.7 low-fin tube configurations.

Its floating tube-sheet construction allows the tube bundle to be accessed for inspection, cleaning, or replacement. Selectable flow direction and adjustable U-bolt stands provide additional installation flexibility.

Industrial Applications

Taisei Kogyo FCD/FCDB Oil Coolers may be evaluated for:

  • Hydraulic power units

  • Industrial lubrication systems

  • Machine tools and production machinery

  • Compressors and rotating equipment

  • Marine engines and auxiliary machinery

  • Power-generation equipment

  • Industrial process and utility systems

Information Required for Selection

Technical evaluation should include:

  • Complete oil cooler model

  • Oil type and viscosity

  • Oil flow rate

  • Oil inlet and required outlet temperature

  • Freshwater or seawater cooling

  • Cooling-water inlet temperature and flow rate

  • Required heat-exchange capacity

  • Operating and design pressures

  • Allowable pressure loss

  • Connection type and dimensions

  • Existing drawing or nameplate

  • Required quantity

For replacement projects, external dimensions alone are insufficient. The tube material, heat-transfer area, fluid compatibility, connections, cooling capacity, and operating conditions must also be confirmed.
